Following in the footsteps of the main themes of this year's Photomonth, today we invite you to the next steps in both the intricacies of self-publishing and collecting.
Today's events begin at 16:00 at the Academy of Photography, where, thanks to the knowledge, passion and experience of Ela Ĺťubrowska, those signed up for the workshops will explore digital imaging and the prepress process. This is the second meeting of the “DIY Book!” workshop cycle.
Come to the Camelot Gallery at 18:00 – Wojciech Nowicki, whose delightful essays on photography “The Bottom of the Eye” have been nominated for the Nike Prize for Literature in 2011, is appearing this time as a collector of photographs, during our discussing on the meaning of collecting.
Those who believe that a day without a vernissage is a wasted day should come to the opening of the accompanying exhibition Solarigrafia at Klub Alchemia.
For those who have been enjoying our selected films about photography we have two excellent suggestions: August Sander – A journey to Sardinia and Arakimentari. The first is a filmic portrait of an artist, the creator of the “People of the 20th Century” project, while Sardinia became Sander’s backdrop for nearly 300 photos depicting the community on the Italian island, so famous for its intense love of tradition. The second screening takes us to Tokyo, where Nobuyoshi Araki disseminates mainly photographs of nudes. Due to Japanese customs, the works, despite the fact they achieved notoriety and applause abroad, were neglected and confiscated, and the author punished for contempt for morality in Japan. The free screening will be held traditionally in the Manggha Centre of Japanese Art and Technology.
