photo.mov? photo.mov!
photo.mov is a new form of participation in Krakow Photomonth Festival: this time, we’re inviting you to take part in an International Video Competition. Artists, amateurs, editors, experimenters – get to work!
Participants in the Competition have the task of making a video (or sending us one you made earlier) pieced together from photographs. Be creative: as well as using stop motion and dubbing dialogues, you can also overlap pictures, have them merge together, and experiment whatever way you like. If you’ve ever wondered why nobody does photo mixes like they do with records, then don’t wait – send us your work. All you have to do is use any number of photos, and edit them in an innovative way, using all kinds of sound (this might be homemade effects, dialogues, music). Each participant or group of participants can enter a maximum of three videos, each lasting between two and eight minutes.
Entries will be judged by a Jury made up of three Polish visual artists: Aneta Grzeszykowska, Wojciech BÄ
kowski and Karol Radziszewski. Winning entries will be presented to the Festival audience on a large screen at the final show. The creators of the best three works will also receive cash prizes: 2000 euro for 1st place, 500 euro for 2nd place and 250 euro for 3rd place.
If you’re interested in taking part, please read the Rules and complete an entry form available at www.photomonth.com, then send it to us at
photo.mov[at]photomonth.com. In the form, you’ll need to provide a direct link to your entry, uploaded at www.vimeo.com. Each piece of work must have a password given by the author with which the organisers can access and download the video file.
The closing date for entry forms is 10 May.
