A week ago, along with the Dom Norymberski, we were delighted to invite you to a series of film portraits of famous photographers. Today we start another movie marathon with a three part series of films from the BBC, The Genius of Photography. Over the next three days, at 19 in the Cheder Cafe you can see films in sequence part 4 Paper Movies, Part 5 We Are Family and Part 6 Snap Judgements. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And as early as Thursday, together with the Babel Images Foundation and the House of Podgórze History, we’d like to invite you to an exhibition of photographs as part of an accompanying event for Photomonth in Krakow, Aaron Babel. Podgórze. The vernissage will be held on 26 May 2011 at 20.00 in the House of Podgórze History on ul. Limanowskiego 13. 

 

The exhibition presents pre-war photographs found in the attic of one of Krakow's tenements. The negatives were preserved in an envelope signed: “Aaron Babel. Podgórze”. Most of them were destroyed, but some were saved. The photographs were taken with a medium format camera and present portraits of Podgórze citizens and scenes from everyday life on the right bank area of Krakow. In addition to places known and recognisable, there is also a less familiar face of this district. The artist managed to capture the unique character of Podgórze. A character which in recent years is clearly being lost.

 

The exhibition will be open until 3 September.
