Following the announcement of glasnost, when artists were overwhelmed by a previously unknown freedom of expression, art started developing at an unprecedented rate. The cradle of the tumultuous “new wave” was the Furmanny Lane workshop.
It produced artists including Ilya Kabakov, Erik Bulatov, Boris Orlov, Konstantin Zvezdochetov, Georgy Ostretsov, Dmitri Prigov, and Pyotr Mamonov, who went on to become symbols of the perestroika period.
Lecture in Russian, interpreted into Polish.
Olga Sviblova, director of the Moscow House of Photography Museum, curator of numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad, author of screenplays and director of documentary films, winner of international film and artistic awards.
